My names Michael H. Cranford and I am an artist, builder and live in the rainforests of Costa Rica. I am surrealistic painter and work first hand with new perspectives in an attempt to unravel modern mans’ disconnection with nature.
I frequently reflect upon my childhood memories in my work, cycles of life and pay attention to natures repeating patterns. After studying under oil paint techniques with Anne Packard and Chuck Mardosz, I attempt to draw-out the child-like emotion from my work.
Nature inspires me to feel sometimes amused, other times amusing, but always poignant canvases with tight, small brushstrokes. Look a bit closer and you’ll find my attention to detail and tongue in cheek humor connects you back to nature.
From my studio in the rainforest, the abundant and brilliant palette of nature surrounds me. I am stimulated to take on the challenge of mastering light and water reflections using loose brush strokes.
I see underlying emotions in each swirling eddy tide and I consult in a number of venues. I hope my artistic style of painting intrigues and delights you.
